Move day is loud, smelly, full of strangers and ends with a new house that smells wrong. Pets need a plan.

Before the move

  • Update microchip address two weeks before move day
  • Pack a pet survival kit (food, bowls, bed, toy, lead)
  • Book a friend or kennel for move day if possible

Move day

  • Keep pets in one closed room with food/water
  • Move pets last, in their carrier, in your car
  • Don't feed cats heavily before transport

New house

  • Set up one "safe room" before letting pets explore
  • Keep cats indoors for 2–3 weeks
  • Walk dogs on lead for the first few outings
